Leading Lights was a project that I developed in response to a call for work that celebrated 'The Future' as part of the Cheriton Light Festival 2018.

I wanted to create a project that would celebrate the future's of those who are least likely to feel like they have one, and thus chose to work with young people since not a day goes by without a media story making reference to young people's lack of future.

I aimed to create a 'culture of encounter' whereby festival visitors would be invited to talk with young people and find out what their hopes and aspirations are for the future. I approached this by inviting young people to wear LED light badges during the festival that displayed their aspirations and thus become the Leading Lights of the festival.
