Pull Up a Chair
Pull Up a Chair is a project I developed and run in Catford, South London. The aim of the project was to widen participation in the consultations being held on the regeneration plans for the area to include groups that the council were struggling to reach.

My approach was to collect fly tipped chairs from the local area and invite people to help decorate the chairs while having a conversation about Catford.

The project engaged with people who live in a local probation hostel and mental health hospital, people who attend a centre for a free meal, people who attend a dementia day care service and young people from a number of schools including one that offers young women alternative provision to mainstream education and a school for children with special needs.

The chairs were exhibited at a local festival were visitors were invited to continue the conversation.
